But do you need calcium supplements?

There are a number of factors to consider.
But first, just to continue from last time. There are a number
of reports suggesting other reasons for the health and longevity
of those people. I will just mention a couple of sites where issues
with coral calcium are raised. www.coralcalciumwatchdog.com
and www.coralclciummadesimple.com. There are plenty of others
if you just want to do a google search. Due to the amount of mud
stirred up, I prefer to concentrate on some clear matters of fact.

Perhaps the following reports are worth noting.
"A re-analysis of this British Government data found "marked reductions"of seven minerals in 20 fruits and 20 vegetables from the 1930s to the 1980s, concluding that "in every subgroup of foods investigated, there has been a substantial loss in their mineral content."
David Thomas, Mineral Resources International.

"Dozens of greenhouse experiments show that CO2 enrichment also causes significant decline in zinc, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and other micro nutrients."
Sherer, op. cit. note 75.

"Turning whole wheat into white flour elimenates 50-96% of fibre, vitamin and mineral contents." Nutrition Almanac p. 145.
